Bethany
“I feel very happy and I feel very proud”
Bethany contracted meningitis when she was only a few hours old. This left her with left-sided hemiplegia, which significantly affects her memory, meaning she often cannot keep track of what she is doing in her daily life.
Growing up Bethany needed constant support to keep her safe, but she was frustrated at home because she was like a cocooned butterfly. Her poor memory kept her from doing the things she wanted to do.

Although she has a great relationship with her family, living at home was not giving her the opportunities she dreamed of. Gabbie dreamt of independence, friendships, and being able to make a difference in the world.
